History
The Cool Roof Rating Council was created in 1998 to develop accurate and credible methods for evaluating and labeling the solar reflectance and thermal emittance (radiative properties) of roofing products and to disseminate the information to all interested parties.
Mission
The CRRC is incorporated as a non-profit educational organization for the following purposes:
- To implement and communicate fair, accurate, and credible radiative energy performance rating systems for roof surfaces.
- To support research into energy related radiative properties of roofing surfaces, including durability of those properties.
- To provide education and objective support to parties interested in understanding and comparing various roofing options.
Why Cool Roofs and How Can CRRC Help?
Cool roofs and the CRRC are beneficial to a variety of professionals.
- Building owners, facility managers, architects, and roofing specifiers
- Code bodies and building officials
- Roofing manufacturers and sellers
Product Rating Program
At the core of the CRRC is its Product Rating Program, in which roofing manufacturers can label various roof surface products with radiative property values rated under a strict program administered by the CRRC. Code bodies, architects, building owners and specifiers can rely on the rating information provided in the CRRC Rated Products Directory.
Membership
The CRRC's diverse membership includes anyone who is interested in rating roof surface radiative properties and in the energy-efficiency of roofs. Our members include roofing manufacturers, suppliers, and distributors, as well as roofing contractors, consultants, non-profit groups, government agencies, educational institutions, air quality boards, code bodies, energy service companies and other interested individuals.
ROOF GUARDIAN TECHNOLOGIES is a proud member, manufacturer and supporter of the CRRC.
